History

Amador Health Center began as St. Luke’s Health Care Clinic, established on May 4, 1990, as a free clinic.

It has been providing healthcare services to the community for over three decades now. The clinic started its operations with Dr. Stanislaus Ting as the volunteer medical director in 1991. In 2017, the clinic took over the former family shelter and renovated the 7,000-square-foot space to include medical and behavioral health services in a comprehensive setting. This allowed the center to provide more comprehensive and integrated care to its patients.

During the renovation, the clinic changed its name to Amador Health Center to reflect its new identity. The center has been providing vital healthcare services to the community, making healthcare more accessible in a holistic and caring environment. The center offers services that range from primary medical care to behavioral health counseling, and also include recovery services in the former clinic housed within the same building. The center averages around 200 visits per week, which adds up to almost 5,000 visits per year for about 1,200 patients.

In 2023-24, the center expanded once again by adding an addition that will allow for increased behavioral health counseling and the addition of preventive dental care services. This expansion is aimed at providing more services to the community and making healthcare more accessible to those who need it the most. The center is committed to providing high-quality healthcare services to its patients and is constantly striving to improve its services to meet the needs of the community.
