On February 28, 2015, our first annual Run with Your Doc fundraiser kicked off. Over 650 runners sweated their way through a 1 mile, 5K, or 10K course on an early morning in Southern New Mexico. The Dona Ana Community College – East Mesa campus was the perfect setting for runners and their doctors to test their meddle. Runners ranged from 8 to 80 years old for the 10K, with a 3-year old running the 1 mile.
Doctors and medical professionals recognize they are role models for healthy bodies. Run with Your Doc was our challenge to let them practice what they preach. They stepped up to the challenge with organized staff and patients to prove that they are serious about healthy living. February is also National Children’s Dental Health Month and American Heart Month; our event commemorated awareness of these national campaigns.
If fun is an indicator of success, Run with Your Doc was highly successful. All runners are winners, as they get cheered on across the finish line, knowing their sweat is support for Amador!
In 2016, we had over 850 runners and raised $30,000!
